Theologians call it the "cultural mandate." Its the idea that God is trying to make something of the world and that He wants to do it through people. That means that God is moving history in a certain direction, and that this movement happens through us as we are inspired and empowered to build a better world. Whether you make omelettes or write legislation, your work is part of God's care for the world. This means that everything you do can be sacred and even worshipful.
